Mr. Stanley Lim is currently the Chairman of the Singapore Logistics Association (SLA) for the Term 2016/2017. He the longest serving Council Member and last helmed the association from 1992 to 2006.
Mr. Lim’s illustrious 40 years career in the logistics industry began after serving 2 years in the Singapore Customs (formerly Customs and Excise Department). He is currently the Group Chief Operating Officer of Addicon Logistics Management with HQ in Singapore.
Mr. Lim has been involved and contributed to FIATA – International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations since 1991. He was elected to the Presidency as Senior Vice President (2001-2007) and Treasurer (2007-2011). At the FIATA World Congress in Cairo, Egypt, he was elected the President of the international organisation for the Term 2011-2013. He is currently a member of the FIATA Extended Board and chairs the FIATA World Congress Committee.
Mr. Lim represents SLA in the ASEAN Federation of Forwarders Associations. He is currently the Secretary-General of the regional organisation. He is currently sitting in various Government Committees in Logistics, Trade Facilitation and IT Trade connectivity.
Training has been Mr Lim’s passion. He is one of the pioneers involved in the development of training programmes for freight and logistics personnel to upgrade their skills in the eighties. In 1990, 1991 and 1996, Mr Lim was the Resource Trainer for UN ESCAP – United Nations Economic, and Social Commission for the Asia Pacific.
Back home, Mr. Stanley Lim gave lectures on Multimodal Transport, one of the 7 subjects in the Diploma in Integrated Logistics Management and Diploma in International Freight Management conducted by The Logistics Academy, a training arm of SLA. In the nineties and the decade following, he spent at least 20 years teaching in the Customs Training School for the Customs Staff on the Logistics Industry Practices.
Mr. Lim has also been invited to be a Resource Speaker for Training of Trainers programmes in Dalian, China, Yangon, Myanmar and Taipei, Taiwan. He also spoke in many conferences, seminars, workshops and congresses worldwide. To name a few, he participated in the UNECE/ECO Workshop on EATL in Tehran, East Asia Transport Links and the ASEM Transport Workshop in Vilnius, Lithuania, the Symposium on UN Managing Sanctions Risk in the Maritime Transportation Sector organised by the Australian Government and more recently, in the Research and Practical Training Program in Taipei, Taiwan on 21-23 June 2017. He is invited to be the current Chair of the Singapore University of Social Science (SUSS) Programme Advisory Committee.
In recognition of his valuable contributions, he was bestowed the PBM – Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (Public Service Award) by the President of the Republic of Singapore in 2001. Last year, Mr Lim won the Golden Chariot Award – Achievement for Strengthening International Relationships in the Transport Sector, at the ceremony held on 12 May 2016 in Shenzhen, China.
