On behalf of the Global Logistics Summit – Tanzania 2017 Organizing Committee, it is my pleasure to invite you to attend this prestigious event. Tanzania is the home of the world-famous Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain and is blessed with bountiful natural resources and is strategically located a as a gateway to the East African and SADC countries.
Tanzania has several “international corridors” connecting its east coast to neighbouring inland countries, and has a great impact on the economic growth in the rest of the East Africa region.
The economy of Tanzania, with a population of over 40 million, has constantly shown high growth in recent years. Particularly in 2000s, the real growth rate has been hovering around 7%, which is expected to continue for the next decade. Consequently, the freight forwarding demand is expected rise higher. The importance of this industry and its linkages therefore needs to be addressed appropriately.
Tanzania is recognized as one of the busiest transport hubs in the East African region for sea and air cargo and its container ports are extremely busy in the world. Not forgetting the air connection linking Tanzania direct to various cities around the globe, providing convenience and effective connectivity for passengers and cargo.
Tanzania provides the necessary land, air, sea and telecommunications linkages to move freight services various points around the world. It is fitting that the theme for the GLS-TZ 2017 TANZANIA is “Harnessing Logistics for Sustainable Economic Growth”.
As Chairman of the Organizing Committee for this prestigious event, it is our priority to ensure comfort and convenience for our delegates. JNICC, Dar es Salaam is selected as the event venue for its excellent infrastructure and good connectivity. Situated in the CBD, it is a purpose built Convention Centre in Dar es salaam City with sophisticated audio-video, communication and Information technology. It is also well connected with public transportation to connect our delegates to popular tourist areas and business meetings.
I look forward to welcoming you to this prestigious event in The Land of the Kilimanjaro.

Welcome To GLS – Tanzania 2017
Hello GLS friends and partners,
It is my pleasure to welcome you once again to the first international open-networking event for freight forwarders, The Freight Summit!
The Global Logistics Summit, or GLS, is the first open networking conference that caters to reliable and quality forwarders like you. It is the first in Tanzania and will be held annually henceforth. We envisage this Summit to be effective and helpful to hundreds of freight forwarding CEOs and decision makers in the years to come. Forwarders are looking for a networking platform where they would find that perfect business partner to grow their business and The Global Logistics Summit –Tanzania is all about that
Freight forwarding networks have committed to participate and bring their members in this year’s GLS event. With their participation, we can ensure that all delegates are reliable forwarders as they have undergone due diligence of their respective networks.
“The organised networking sessions will enable participants create new business opportunities, since the summit will bring many likeminded Logistics Professionals from across the world.”
In GLS, we use a meeting scheduler that helps our forwarders maximize business opportunities and sales leads. Our Face2Face Scheduler system allows our delegates to schedule their meetings according to their specific preferences. Delegates can choose their preferred specializations and the scheduler will automatically filter the list to only show those delegates who meet these preferences. This way, no-shows due to mismatch of preferences are minimized.
Spectacular sceneries, cool ocean breeze, and remarkable cultural diversity await you at this Africa’s 21st-century metropolis. Eating, shopping, and nightlife are just three of the highlights of any visit to Dar es Salaam. Numerous parks and monuments also give someone a break from the city’s hustle and bustle.
The Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam, which is our official accommodation partner, provides an unparalleled location, ideal venue for business and leisure, and offers sophisticated guest rooms and suites which feature deluxe bedding, high-speed internet and marble bathrooms. The hotel also boasts a plethora of restaurants to choose from, from a Chinese cuisine to an all-day buffet selection.
